The Stevenson University Music Department offers several performance ensembles, including the University Singers, the Greenspring Valley Orchestra, and the Marching, Pep, and Concert Bands, all offered as a fine arts credit.
The Stevenson University Marching Band is a contemporary style university marching band. Membership is open to all Stevenson University students, including non-music majors. The band uses standard woodwind, brass, percussion instruments and synthesizers, guitars, color guard, and dance. The main requirement to join the SU Marching Band is a strong desire to be part of an energized university marching band!
Stevenson University has made a substantial financial commitment to its marching band to provide the students’ best possible experience. The SU Marching Band is incredibly proud to have Vic Firth Sticks and Mallets, The Avedis Zildjian Cymbal Company, Remo drum heads, and the Yamaha Music Corporation as its corporate sponsors. All of the Stevenson Marching Band’s school-owned brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments are Yamaha instruments. The percussion section will exclusively play Vic Frith® sticks and mallets, Remo® drum heads, and Avedis Zildjian® cymbals. ALL members of the SU Marching Band will receive a participation grant for participation in the fall semester.
